The Girls Gone Green presented the very first Northeast Florida Veg Fest in November 2010 in the beautiful Riverside Park.   Various groups came together to promote a day of powerful positive action while offering a huge selection of veg-friendly cuisine from local restaurants and food markets.  Thousands of attendees got a chance to listen to well-informed speakers, watch cooking demos on healthier food alternatives, rock out to live music, participate in the kids zone and watch a movie premiere of FORKS OVER KNIVES.  The best of the best organic, green, animal-friendly and wellness businesses along with non-profits came together to celebrate this planet and all of its inhabitants.

We thank everyone who came out and took part in the inaugural celebration!  We were overwhelmed with the outpouring of good thoughts and happy hearts.  Check www.nfvegfest.org often for updates and information of how you can get involved in the next Veg Fest happening in November.

Also, we are still selling Veg Fest reusable canvas bags for a very low $5.00.  Email julie@thegirlsgonegreen.com to place your order and help support our efforts.

A special thanks goes out the Shepherd Agency and especially Michael Barnhart for their fabulous work on our logo and Veg Fest poster.

During the month of March we offer people an opportunity to participate in a 31-day challenge to go MEAT-FREE with an abundance of support by hosting events such as cooking demos, potlucks, speakers, movie screenings, field trips, etc.

While eating meat is a personal choice, we feel strongly that the consumption of meat is one of the root causes of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, environmental pollution, massive deforestation, and a host of other ails disrupting earth's equilibrium.  Our interconnected biosphere is reaching a critical mass, and the time has come for us to find effective solutions for this problem.

There is a direct connection between our personal health and the health of our environment.  Our health is a gift, and digestion of meat takes a heavy toll on our internal systems.  By reducing our meat intake, we allow our body a much-needed rest.

We hope you will take the challenge to go meat-free and give yourself a chance to experience all of the benefits while finding great support in your local community and meeting new people.
