Dear [contact_attribute:First Name],
Lots of cool stuff happening this month and lots of ways for YOU to get involved! First, a big announcement! The Girls Gone Green have partnered with Orange TV in Orlando to bring you a television show that highlights all things green around town. We will kick-off our show at Veg Fest 2008 happening October 25th at Loch Haven Park (see below). Look for those segments to start airing sometime in December. We are extremely excited to have this opportunity to bring an environmentally-friendly message to the masses, so a big thanks to everyone at Orange TV! We will keep you posted.

We are looking for people with all kinds of strengths and skills to coordinate what is going to be a grand effort on our end. Please email us at info@thegirlsgonegreen.com if you'd like to be a part of an exciting event.
Thanks so much to everyone who continues to support our causes! We hope to continue building a strong community capable of effective, positive change!

Veg Fest 2008!

The Girls Gone Green will be hosting the Central Florida Veg Fest happening on October 25th in Orlando. Debra Simpson started the festival back in 2005, and it is now one of the largest vegetarian festivals in the country. The free event is geared toward all progressive people, not just vegetarians. Enjoy live music, national environmental speakers and free yoga classes. This will be an event to put on your calendar.
All 200 vendors participating are required to only sell items that are natural, vegan, and eco-friendly, so you won't see any vendors that will make you wonder what the coordinators were thinking by letting them set up. If you are curious about being vegan or adding more vegetarian meals to your diet, there will be cooking classes, speakers, and also dietitians to get advice from.
The absolute number one reason for going is to meet the sexy chicks of The Girls Gone Green!!! We will be rocking it at the main stage all day. Plus, we will be out with film crews interviewing participants for our upcoming segments on Orange TV. More details about this event can be found at: www.thegirlsgonegreen.com .

NEW BOOK CLUB
|
That's right!! We are starting up our very own book club, and what a way to start by reading, Peace Between the Sheets. Now c'mon, we can all use a little peace in that arena!
This book is sure to change the way you look at relationships between not only men and women, but humans all together. At the very least it is a great subject to dive into and will lead to some very lively discussions. Let us know if you'd like to join, we will be starting up within the next month. Spots are limited so email us soon at info@thegirlsgonegreen.com.

HALLOWGREEN!

Trick or Treat! Halloween is such a great holiday. When else can you get away with going vamp to work and scaring your boss all day without getting fired? Never. This year, I have been thinking about how to have a more sustainable costume. Most costumes are made from polyester, which takes wood and oil to produce. Polyester lasts practically forever. That is good for you while you own it because it always looks new, but when it goes to the landfill it is not a good thing. There are hopes of making polyester accepted at more U.S. Recycling facilities. Until that time comes, try shying away from polyester when you can.

What are our other options this Halloween for costumes? For one, you can try looking around your house for things you already own that can be used as a costume. That doesn't mean having to turn a white sheet into a boring ghost costume. There are several great websites that list ideas for cool homemade costumes. Another option is to trade old costumes and accessories with friends. If there is a specific costume that you want, but can't get it one of these ways, then you can try second hand stores, on-line or from a local shop.
Have a fun and safe Halloween!
